Week 10, Swore Farms CSA 7/29/14

Here's a peek at how full the tables are when we load them for CSA. The tables almost groan under the weight of all that food!

This week brings loads of peas and even a fresh zucchini!
10 carrots, 13 lbs of red potatoes, 2 cabbage, 4 candy onions, basil, dill, thyme, 1 cauliflower, 2 beets, 2 bunches kale, 2 bunches rainbow swiss chard, 1 zucchini, 1 doz eggs, 4 tomatoes, & 1 box full of peas!
Yum!

Week 9, Swore Farms CSA 7/22/14

AAnnd we have another injury. At dusk, Kidlet #5 ran full tilt into a pitchfork that friends left on the grass. One tine passed between his tibia and fibula and tented out the back of his calf while another pierced his other foot, going in between the 2nd and 3rd little toe. His 10 year-old sister pulled the pitchfork out moments before we arrived. Minutes later, and we were on our way to the hospital. So if things come in threes, we should be done. Wendy's back, Kidlet#1's accident, and not Kidlet#5's pitchfork.

Anyway, back to this week's basket...
1/2 lb Snow peas, 1.3 lb sweet peas, 1 burpless, cucumber, 6 tomatoes, 1 egg plant, 6.5 lbs tomatoes, 1 candy onion, 8 carrots, 1 cauliflower, 2 beets, 4 lettuce, & 1/2 doz eggs.

Again, we were extremely blessed; kidlet#5 had no broken bones, no pierced arteries, no tendon damage. His doctor said, "I think you had divine hands guiding that tine into exactly the perfect place to be. A milometer in any direction and you'd have serious damage that required surgery. It's a miracle."
I think so too. Two weeks later, and he's totally fine--moving without pain unless you touch the wound itself.

Week 7, Swore Farms CSA 7/8/14

These baskets are getting huge!

This week had 5 lbs green beans, 3 basil, 2 kale bunches, 2 dill, 2 heads butter crunch lettuce, 5 candy onions, 3 beets, 20 carrots, 2 burpless cucumbers, 8 english cucumbers, 1/2 doz eggs

The best thing about the English cucumbers is that they don't need to be peeled. They are delicious!

Week 8, Swore Farms CSA 7/15/14

Important things first: We found a cute frog in the greenhouse. Haha! We let him go to eat more bugs in there. We strive to remain pesticide free on our farm.

This week we had 6 Candy Onions, 15 Carrots, 1 lb Beans, 2 basil, 2 dill, 2 thyme, 2 lettuce, 2 kale bunches, 1 swiss chard bunch, 10 lbs freshly dug red potatoes, 4 burpless cucumbers, 1 English cucumbers, 10 rhubarb, 1 doz eggs, and 2 tomatoes!
Gotta love those garden fresh tomatoes. Amazing!

Week 6, Swore Farms CSA 7/1/14

Had a bad shock this week: Our daughter was in a terrible accident and was ambulanced to the hospital for road rash (*update her wounds are almost healed by 8/4/14 I'll put a picture of her at the bottom of this post)

One of the most time consuming chores is harvesting beans. We have 2 rows of green beans in greenhouse 1 and it takes hours upon hours to harvest them--even with many hands, but for our CSA family,
the work is worth it!

A dozen Eggs, SIX POUNDS of green beans! WOW! 8 rhubarb, kale, hydroponic lettuce, butter head lettuce, 2 candy onions, 3 beets, 10 carrots, 4 burpless cucumbers, 4 English cucumbers, cauliflower, & 4 radishes. Yummy stuff!

Here's our Kidlet#1. Ouchie! She fell off a trailer onto pavement at 35mphr while out with friends.
Her arms and legs had road rash and lacerations including a 5 inch gash on her arm, deep holes on her knees, and tendon damage to her right foot, but her head was completely untouched. We are very blessed and thankful she is okay.
